Hello Future Beekeepers! The 2018 session of the Aiken Beekeeper’s annual beginner course in beekeeping is just around the corner. The course is titled “First Lessons in Beekeeping” and the first class will meet on January 30, 2018. This course is a great way to learn about beekeeping and will walk you through everything you need to know to get your first hive(s) up and running. *UPDATE* The flyer for the 2018 class is available. The Aiken Beekeepers Association recently began a scholarship program for high school students interested in beekeeping. If you are interested, please fill out the scholarship application. The scholarship is open to 9th and 10th graders (additional eligibility requirements can be found in the application form itself). Completed applications must be submitted by the final Friday in October (Oct 27). Good luck and happy beekeeping!

There are two files available for download: one containing information about swarms, and another containing information about bees in structures. The file discussing swarms also includes a list of local beekeepers willing to assist you if you discover a swarm and need it removed.
